
After weeks for preparation, the day arrived! Jake spent the day loading the fruiting house with blue oyster mushrooms, Shiitake, and Lion’s Mane mushrooms. Officially bringing mycology to Bridgewater, New Jersey!!!
For those new to growing mushrooms – mushrooms are grown on a substrate, like sawdust or straw. Once they colonize a block, they are introduced to a high humidity environment to fruit. Within a few weeks the mushrooms are ready to harvest and eat.
Our goal this year is to introduce are neighbors to high quality, locally-grown mushrooms. We will also share our journey and knowledge about these fascinating – and delicious – super foods.
